Select images (Intersect)

Click to select images which intersect with point clicked or rectangle drawn.

Simply click anywhere on the Florida graphic. All images which intersect with the point you clicked are selected. To draw a rectangle, hold down the mouse button, move the mouse to another location, and then let go of the mouse button. All images which intersect the rectangle drawn will be selected.

The image boundary for each image selected is displayed on the view. Note that image boundaries are drawn using different colors based on satellite type. The number of selected images is displayed on the status bar at the bottom left corner of the window.

Select images (Selective)

Click to select images which intersect with point clicked or rectangle drawn.

This method of selecting images interactively is more selective than the method illustrated above. A certain fraction of the image must be present around the point clicked in order for that image to be selected. If a point very close to the edge or corner of an image is clicked, that image will not be selected. Likewise, when a box is drawn, that box must contain the center of the image in order for the image to be selected.

The image boundary for each image selected is displayed on the view. Note that image boundaries are drawn using different colors based on satellite type. The number of selected images is displayed on the status bar at the bottom left corner of the window.

Subset images

Click to subset out images which intersect with point clicked or rectangle drawn.

This tool enables the user to quickly subset images from the currently selected set. Simply click inside an image boundary on the display to select just those images. There must be images already selected and their boundaries displayed on the view in order for this tool to work. If the user clicks outside all the image boundaries, no images will be selected.

Add Thumbnails

For each image selected, add it’s thumbnail to the view.

Click the Add Thumbnails button to quickly view thumbnail representations of the selected images. A highly degraded image will be displayed on the view for the purpose of quick viewing. Up to 100 thumbnails can be displayed at once. If more than 100 images are currently selected, a message box will alert the user. It may take a while to load and display the thumbnails. A status bar at the bottom of the project window indicates the progress. Landsat TM images are drawn first, followed by MSS, then SPOT. The drawing order allows the SPOT images to be drawn on top of TM and MSS. To quickly remove the thumbnails from the view, click the Remove Thumbnails and images button.

If multiple images are displayed, the top-most image becomes the name of the view. At least one thumbnail must be displayed in the view for a cloned view to be created, or the user is alerted. An unlimited number of cloned views may be created, so use the Delete Cloned Views button periodically to remove them.
